Lakeside Retreat
Lakeside Retreat was a once in a lifetime commission; the owners were very philanthropic, and they were looking for a home that could hold 200 people a few times a year for various events. We designed a house that could handle that many individuals a few days a year and also feel like a nicely proportioned lake home for the rest of the year.
The owner loved Shingle Style homes that she visited in the Hamptons. We minimized the scale of the 20,000 sq. ft. home by creating “wings” to the home that didn’t allow you to see the entire home mass from one view. The owners always had family visiting them so we designed a “Guest Wing” that could function independently of the main home, this gave the owners the privacy they craved.
The exterior was clad in natural stone and machine cut cedar shingles, using high-end Pella windows. The interior of the home had in-floor heat, along with a whole home computer controlled lighting.
